SEO MUST DO: Google Alerts & 5 Comments a Day --

What Are Google Alerts?

This is from their site:
Google Alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on your choice of query or topic.

Some handy uses of Google Alerts include:
  • monitoring a developing news story
  • keeping current on a competitor or industry
  • getting the latest on a celebrity or event
  • keeping tabs on your favorite sports teams
How Do I Set Up Google Alerts?
Go to this url and set up: http://www.google.com/alerts

What Word Do I Pick?
It can be a word or a phrase or a combination of words.

How Many Can I Pick?
As many as you like. We think 6 to 10 gives you enough fodder to be able to make 5 comments a day.

My Google Alerts Are Not Working!
No problem, just change them. BUT REALIZE THAT THESE WORDS ARE THE BASIS OF WHAT YOU ARE BUILDING YOUR BRAND AROUND. YOU WANT TO USE THESE WORDS IN YOUR: POSTS, HEADLINES, AND TAGS FOR POSTS.

Why 5 Comments a Day?
It's a rough average you want to shoot for. This will help bring your url up higher in a google search, find other blogs of interest to you, find products related to your blog, and bring traffic to your site. You can never be sure exactly which comment will bring in traffic, so it's a numbers game. If you post 5 comments a day, on average, in 3 months time you will notice a surge in referral traffic and will really be abreast of what is going on in whatever field you are tracking.

Where Do I Comment?
Yes, not as obvious as one would think. You would comment on BLOGS as opposed to News Alerts or Web Alerts. Blogs generally will have comments fields open. You may need to be logged into some blogs to comment, so these I pass on.
